Today I want to share a rescue story I will never forget, one that happened at the very beginning of my journey in 2018. On the evening of November 10th, while walking home, I heard the weak cries of tiny kittens coming from a neighborhood football field where children were playing. When I got closer, I found two very small kittens in terrible condition, their eyes badly infected and unable to see. One of them kept trying to walk onto the field, and a child would move her away, but she kept trying again. I quickly found a cardboard box, gently placed the two helpless little souls inside, and took them home.
This is the first video of them shared on the day I rescued them. If you were following me back then, you might remember them.
After just 7 days of care, they were already in much better health. They started playing, moving with more confidence, and had become very attached to me. Seeing their transformation in such a short time gave me so much hope. This is the video I shared only seven days after their rescue:
Not long after, a friend of mine came to visit and saw them. He immediately liked them and noticed how busy I was with many other rescues and cats to care for. He decided to adopt them and give them a loving home. He was the one who named them Leo and Lucky. In this video, you can see how calm, safe, and happy they were in their new home with him:
Months later, I visited them at my friend’s home and I was truly amazed when I saw Leo and Lucky. They had grown so much, strong and healthy. The most beautiful moment was that even after being away from them for months, they still remembered me. When they saw me arriving at my friend’s house, they ran straight toward me. My friend was waiting outside, smiling, and told me that when other guests visit, Leo and Lucky usually hide and run away, but with me it was different. That moment was priceless to me. Seeing them grown, safe, and healthy filled me with so much happiness. You can see how they became in this video:
Looking back at Leo and Lucky’s story reminds me why I started rescuing cats in the first place. What began as two tiny, helpless kittens on a football field turned into a journey of healing, trust, and a happy life in a loving home. Moments like these give me the strength to continue, even when the road feels heavy. I am deeply grateful to the kind people who support my work with their donations and encouragement, because without them many of these rescues would not be possible. Every rescue is not just my effort, it is a shared act of compassion. Leo and Lucky’s story will always stay in my heart as a reminder that saving even one life can change everything.
Hi, I am Younes. I am 36 years old and live in Morocco in a small city. There is nothing worth mentioning about me except one thing, and that is helping and feeding helpless stray cats and kittens and providing them safe shelter...
Lovely. They made because you cared.
